Bathroom Plumbing

  • Plumbing 101

As we approach the winter months, it is essential to carefully inspect the plumbing fixtures in each plan to ensure they are properly positioned and protected to prevent freezing. Below are a few important tips to help safeguard your plumbing systems.

  • Secondary Bathrooms

Ideally, we aim to have all plumbing in secondary bathrooms located on the same wall. As shown in the image below.

This is our “standard procedure” to ensure efficiency and consistency; however, there are instances where exceptions may apply.

For example, if a plumbing wall is located on an exterior wall or shares a wall with an unconditioned space, such as a garage, the shower plumbing must be relocated to an interior wall. As illustrated in the image below.

This is because toilet and sink plumbing typically runs through the floor or ground, making it less susceptible to freezing and not require repositioning. However, since the tub and shower plumbing is routed through the wall, it is more vulnerable to freezing. Therefore, only the plumbing for the tub or shower should be repositioned to an interior wall when one is available.
